Information
The Union Adult Learning Center offers morning and evening English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adult students. Classes help students improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students take a pretest (TABE CLAS-E) upon enrollment and posttest after 40 hours of instruction to measure their language acquisition. Students are placed in leveled classes based on their understanding and use of the English language. Classes run throughout the traditional school year and new students can enroll in August and January. Our classes are in high demand and a waitlist is available for students who could not enroll at the beginning of the semester.
Classes are offered in person at Union Adult Learning Center. Virtual classes are also offered on Zoom. Students must choose in person or virtual. Due to the high demand of our ESL classes, attendance is mandatory and a student may lose their spot with continued absences, if they do not contact their teacher.
Students under the age of 18
The minimum age to attend classes with UALC is 16 years old. Students who wish to enroll and are 16 or 17 years old MUST have a signed and notarized 16/17 form on file in our offices BEFORE the student will be allowed to participate in enrollment. It must include the student information, parent or guardian consent, AND a signature from the administration at the school where the student has attended most recently.
