Grove Honors Ruby Brdges In Walk to School Day

Tuesday morning, some Grove students and families celebrated Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.

November 14, 1960, is the day six year old Ruby Bridges walked to William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans becoming a national icon of bravery as she was the first student to attend an all-white school in the South.

Grove Elementary’s Safety Patrol, Changemakers, and Student Council joined other schools across the country today in remembering her courage. They walked from the Mathis Brothers parking lot to Grove Elementary.

Thank you to Mrs. Kristy Hamilton for organizing this special day!
